APW - Waltham, Riverside Maximus, Model 1888, 21J, 16S, heavy 14K gold OF original Waltham case with attractive engine turning and vermicelli detail, gold cuvette, white enamel DS dial with distinctive script "Waltham" signature characteristic to this mvt grade and with script "A.W.W.Co." above seconds-register, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, three visible diamond endstones, ornate nickel damascene, s#7000612. Gross weight of assembled watch 74.7 dwt (116.3 g); gross weight of 14K gold case only with movement, crystal, and crown/stem assembly removed 35.3 dwt (54.9 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, some spots of oxide to winding wheels; dial with very small fractures above seconds-register, some faint hls between seconds-register and center; excellent hands; case shows very little wear, small shallow dent to rear shield evident as ripple of reflected light, shallow ding to band at 1, excellent engine turning and engraving detail, front and rear open somewhat short of 90 degrees (to approximately 80 degrees); tight bow, crown shows light wear; glass crystal with some short scratches and fine scratches at perimeter.
